Dental Bridges

There are multiple ways to fill in the gap left by a missing tooth. With dental bridges, we quite literally “bridge” the gap. While it doesn’t offer the benefits of an artificial root, it is still a great way to restore your smile’s appearance and function. The skilled dentists at our Issaquah office are ready to help.

What are Dental Bridges?

To place a bridge, the dentist will first shape the surrounding teeth for easy dental crown placement. The crowns will act as anchors for the new artificial tooth. This can also be done with implants capped by crowns.

Once the crowns are in place, we will position the tooth between them and bond them together. The dentist can complete this for one or multiple missing teeth.

Are Dental Bridges Right for Me?

In most cases, dental implants are considered to be the best restoration, but some people don’t qualify or want to deal with surgery. A common reason for not qualifying is a lack of jawbone strength.

Your jawbone will deteriorate if a tooth root does not stimulate it, so if the space is left alone for too long, you’ll be left with two options – a non-surgical replacement or bone grafting to restore it. If you decide on non-surgical treatment, dental bridges can restore your smile’s appearance and function.

What are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

If an implant isn’t an option, bridges are your next best bet. Here are some of the benefits you can expect:

  • Full function for eating and speaking
  • Natural appearance
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Prevents teeth from shifting
