Root Canals

When you think of a root canal, you probably think of a fairly unpleasant experience. However, that is far from the truth. Root canals are actually not much different than a routine filling. At APEX Dental Care, we always strive to make your experience with us as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

What are Root Canals?

When the soft pulp inside your tooth becomes infected, we will perform a root canal to remove it. The pulp contains nerves and blood vessels, but it’s not necessary for your tooth to survive. During the procedure, one of our dentists will create a small hole in the tooth, remove the pulp, then clean the inside and surrounding area.

To protect the tooth after we finish the procedure, we’ll place a dental crown over it. The crown will be custom-made for maximum functionality and comfort.

Is My Tooth Infected?

If you have an infected pulp, it tends to be very noticeable. Some of the most common symptoms present include:

  • Throbbing sensation
  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Cracks and darkening
  • Sensitivity

What are the Benefits of Root Canals?

Root canals are essential if you want to save your tooth. Postponing this treatment can lead to increased pain and a more complicated procedure in the future. Some of the benefits you’ll notice about the treatment include:

  • Relief from pain and sensitivity
  • A strong and natural-looking artificial crown for protection
